1 oz brandy
1/2 oz 100 proof hot damn
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp honey
Top with boiling water
Garnish with cinnamon stick and stir
(for extra spice, top with 2-3 dashes of scrappy's firewater tincture)
The Red Dragon Inn felt like the perfect game for our group when we first heard of it. It's a board game ABOUT drinking. I mean, seriously, one of the two ways to lose the game is passing out due to being too drunk. #PlayResponsibly Maybe it's not the best game to play with kids... But it felt pretty perfect for Rum & Board.
Other than the overall tavern theme, each player deck has it's own unique flavor. We each ended up getting attached to the character we played and the quirks therein. It's way more fun to shout out "I think your attitude needs some percussive maintenance!" rather than just informing the other player that they lose two fortitude.
The free-for-all nature of this game lends itself to some pretty heavy potential for king-making. Which can be a pro or a con, depending on your life philosophy and group of friends. Similarly, there's exceptionally little you can do strategy-wise to actually be good at this game. It really is mostly luck of the draw and convincing the other players to concentrate their attacks and drinks on anyone except you.
As with any player elimination game, there's a potential for one person to be knocked out early and just sit around bored while the game goes on. But, in our experience with this game, everybody always teamed up on the player who was winning, so players generally stayed in the game until very near the end.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - This game is solid and we loved the theme
🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹 - DRINKERS: Feels almost silly to play this game without drinks
💭 - THINKERS: Basically no strategy
⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜ - THEMERS: A+, yes, best theme
📖📖 - Most of the rules are on the cards, which makes it pretty quick to pick up
⌛️⌛️⌛️ - Took us about 1 hour
